Chapel Weddings

Little White Chapel Photographer

The Little White Wedding Chapel is the most photographed wedding venue in Las Vegas, and for good reason. The marquee sign, the drive-up window, the painted sky ceiling and the pink Cadillac out front are recognisable anywhere in the world. Shot badly, it looks like a tourist snapshot. Shot properly, it is one of the most joyful backdrops in American wedding photography.

I shoot there regularly, and I know the venue well enough to work quickly inside a short ceremony slot without ever feeling rushed. What follows is what I have learned about photographing it.

The shots worth getting

  • The marquee sign. Shoot it from below with the couple small in frame. The sign is the story; resist the urge to crop it tight.
  • The pink Cadillac. Sitting on the hood, leaning against the fender, framed through the windscreen. It is the single most requested frame at this venue and it earns the attention.
  • The painted sky ceiling. Clouds and cherubs overhead, which gives you an unusual thing in wedding photography: a ceiling worth including. Shoot wide and let it dominate.
  • The drive-up window. Genuinely unique to Las Vegas and a favourite of couples who want the frame that makes people laugh.
  • The lawn and walkways. Quieter, greener, and useful when you want one set of images that does not shout Vegas.

Timing

Chapel ceremonies are scheduled tightly, and the slot you book is the slot you get. Plan for the ceremony itself to be short. The photography that people remember mostly happens in the thirty to sixty minutes afterwards, outside, around the sign and the car.

Book the ceremony late in the afternoon if you have the choice. You get softer light on the exterior portraits, and you are already outside and dressed when the neon comes on, which means you can continue down to Fremont Street or the Strip without changing anything.

What to expect from me

I arrive before you, so I already know where the light is and what the chapel’s schedule looks like that day. During the ceremony I stay out of the way and photograph what happens. Afterwards I direct more actively, because the clock is real and posing two people who have never been photographed together needs a hand.

Coverage here starts at $650 for an hour, which comfortably covers the ceremony and portraits around the venue. The $1,250 half day adds a second location after the chapel, and it is the option I would recommend to most couples marrying here.

Confirm your ceremony details, packages and any photography policies directly with the chapel when you book. I am an independent photographer and not affiliated with the venue, so their coordinators are the authority on what happens inside the building.

Common Questions

Before you book

Can you photograph inside the chapel?

In my experience the chapels are accommodating to a couple's own photographer, but policies differ between venues and can change. Confirm it with the coordinator when you book your ceremony slot, and let me know what they say so I can plan around it.

How much time do we need for photographs?

One hour is enough for the ceremony plus portraits around the sign and the car. If you want the chapel and a second location such as Fremont Street or the Neon Museum, book three hours.

Do we need to book you and the chapel separately?

Yes. The chapel books your ceremony and I book your photography. I am independent, not a venue package. That is usually the point, as it means you are not limited to whichever photographer happens to be on rotation.

What about the drive-up window?

It photographs brilliantly and very few couples think to ask for it. Tell me in advance if you want it and I will position myself for it.

How much does it cost?

Coverage starts at $650 for one hour at the venue. The three-hour half day, which adds a second location after the ceremony, is $1,250. A thirty percent retainer holds the date.
